News from 2006
Officially Registered!
We are pleased to announce that the charity is now officially registered with the Charity Commission, our Registered No. is 1116851.
This means that we have now been able to register with the H.M. Revenue and Customs in order to claim Gift Aid on the donations received from UK taxpayers.
There has already been some publicity from the local press and an article appeared in the Telegraph and Argus in December. The Yorkshire Post have also shown an interest and now that we are registered we expect an influx of interest from the media. In addition, we propose to be available to talk to rotary clubs, womens groups etc. to raise the awareness of the charity. If you know of any organisations that would be interested, please contact us.

Gerald Starts University in Uganda
Gerald Melita
We are delighted to announce that because of the generosity of a donor, Helping Africa 100 is now sponsoring Gerald Melita at the University of Kampala. Gerald is taking a 3 year course to obtain a Bachelor of Arts with Education degree, and so qualify as a teacher.
We first met Gerald in Arusha in March 2006, when he was working as a volunteer teacher at Living Water Children Centre. His dream was to obtain qualification but his family could not afford to pay the fees. We could see how much Gerald loved the children and how much effort he was putting into the job, so we decided to try to help him.
We would like to thank our donor who has turned Gerald's dream into a reality. We will be seeing Gerald again whe we return to Tanzania in January. Watch the news page for further updates on how Gerald is progressing. Good luck Gerald, keep up the hard work!!
